The Mexican west coast is dubbed the "Mexican Riviera", and is a popular cruise destination. The beaches, golf, historical places, and predictable climate make cruising to Mexico a popular pastime.
Vacations by Cruise to Mexico often include some of the following popular ports of call:
Cozumel: While on the Eastern side of Mexico, Cruises to Mexico include Cozumel as a popular stop due to its noted dive areas, and undeveloped charm. Access to Mayan ruins, and laid back environment.
Acapulco is one of Mexico's most popular cruise destinations, although it's charm has been marred in recent years by well documented crime and corruption issues. The picture perfect bay of Acapulco remains a sight to be seen, however, and cruise ships make it a regular part of most Mexican west coast itineraries.
Ensenada is the Mexican cruise port nearest to the US Border, and is about 65 miles south of San Diego, California. Cruise tours often include side trips to wineries, Hussong's Cantina, and shopping for local artwork and jewelry. Also of note is the "Buffadora", or "Blowhole", a large gape in the rocky coast line that funnels water up, much to the delight of cruise passengers who take the side trip.
Los Cabos is an area that includes Cabo San Lucas, at the bottom tip of the Baja Peninsula. Sport fishing, sparking beaches, and a laid back, casual lifestyle make Los Cabos unique. Like to golf? take a day off the cruise ship and choose from four spectacular golf courses. Prefer to party? Los Cabos provides many popular bars, packed with tourists and locals alike.
Mazatlan is the largest port city on Mexico's western coast. Featuring beautiful beaches and a 15-mile seawall dotted with restaurants, bars, and shops. Open air markets with local handicrafts and souvenirs make a great place to shop while watching the shrimp fleets roll in. Take a trip out to Deer Island to snorkel, and watch divers perform Mexico's national dive, the Swan Dive.
Puerto Vallarta has been made famous by American movie stars. Built on a strip of beach between lush jungle and the Pacific, Puerto Vallarta has always been a popular Mexican cruise destination. Bandaras bay is over six hundred miles square, and has long housed some of the most romantic spots in Mexico. Cruise passengers can enjoy a wide variety of land based activities, from renting buggies to parasailing and side trips to the jungle.
