Part 1 – Operation Desert Storm “The Persian Gulf War”
| By Roger Thadd | Category: Gulf War
The Persian Gulf War or Gulf War (also known as the mother of all battles August 1990 28 February 1991)[7][8] was a conflict between Iraq and a coalition force from 34 nations[9] authorized by the United Nations (UN) but led primarily by the United States and the United Kingdom in order to return Kuwait to the control of the Emir of Kuwait. The conflict developed in the context of the IranIraq War and in 1990 Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing Iraq’s oil through slant drilling.[10] The invasion of Kuwait by Iraqi troops was met with immediate economic sanctions against Iraq by some members of the UN Security Council, and with immediate preparation for war by the United States of America and the United Kingdom. The expulsion of Iraqi troops from Kuwait began in January 1991 and was a decisive victory for the coalition forces, which took over Kuwait and entered Iraqi territory. Aerial and ground combat was confined to Iraq, Kuwait, and bordering areas of Saudi Arabia. Iraq also launched missiles against targets in Saudi Arabia and Israel in retaliation for their support of the invading forces in Kuwait.
Since the IranIraq War of 198088 had been called the “Persian Gulf War” by many news sources, the 1991 war has sometimes been called the “Second Persian Gulf War”, but more commonly, the 1991 war is styled simply the “Gulf War” or the “First Gulf War”, in distinction from the 2003 invasion of Iraq.[11] “Operation Desert Storm” was the coalition name of the air and land operations and is often used to refer to the conflict.

@xfa3ilkhair You …
@xfa3ilkhair You claim Kuwait is a separate country to Iraq. By what right? If any territory is at any point free to separate from their nations, Goa would not be a part of India, the United States would share a southern border with the Confederate States of America, Biafra would not be a part of Nigeria, The Basque Country would no longer be Spanish, etc, etc, etc. The only reason Kuwait is independent, is due to oil. In other words: Money trumps law and justice.

Anybody watching …
Anybody watching this to learn about the conflict needs to understand a couple of things. Kuwait is NOT a legitimate country. Iraq and Kuwait were never separate nations, in fact, the whole region was subject to British colonialism for hundreds of years. The only reason Kuwait was created by the British was to prevent Iraq from exerting control over the Persian Gulf.
Iraq always claimed Kuwait as their territory, legitimately.
Also, Kuwait was stealing Iraqi oil using slant drilling.

@Atroonks oil oil …
@Atroonks oil oil oil…
iraq had it, america wanted it
so…america invaded and now, iraqi oil no longer belongs to the iraqis
@Atroonks and it …
@Atroonks and it would also affect the U.S. because if Saudi Arabia was invaded along with their oil-fields, it would be a blow to the U.S. economy. It’s mostly all about protecting oil. The 2nd reason was also that Iraqi forces was oppressing the Kuwaiti civilians and the invasion of Kuwait would totally eliminate the member of the UN. That’s why the U.S.-led coalition intervened in the Persian Gulf region, you can also use the thing called “Google” how did this war begins.
@Atroonks with an …
@Atroonks with an air war against military targets in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities that lasted for a month. Then ground war came in on February 23rd when U.S./UN forces attacked Iraqi forces in Kuwait and southern Iraq. 100 hours after ground war begins, Iraq was driven out of Kuwait and U.S./UN forces chased Iraqi troops 150 miles into Baghdad before we pull out of Iraq. The invasion of Kuwait happened because Iraq wanted to steal their oil prices to pay off debt due to Iraq-Iran war….
@Atroonks The Gulf …
@Atroonks The Gulf war started due to the invasion of Kuwait by Iraqi forces under Saddam Hussein in August 2nd, 1990. After Kuwait was defeated and annexed by Iraq, Saudi Arabia feared that Iraq would used it as a possible Saudi Arabia invasion by Iraqi forces so they invited the U.S. and the UN to step up and help defend their country which it did. UN told Iraq to leave Kuwait or military force would be used under UN 678. Since Iraq didn’t leave Kuwait, U.S/UN launched Operation Desert Storm

Kuwait isn’t part of NATO.
Also, I am talking about the invasion and occupation of Iraq by Bush Jr. Even after this golf war, Hussain was still supported in his crimes against ‘his’ people the west.
@Prometheus4096 …
@Prometheus4096 they didn’t need support to invade iraq, as part of NATO it was a requirement to help out Kuwait when it was invaded.
