Adobe Photoshop is the industry leading photo editing software, used by freelancers, professional graphic designers, families and average Joes.

Developed and published by Adobe, Photoshop can be downloaded or purchased online and physical shops around the world. The software is available in two editions “Adobe Photoshop” and “Adobe Photoshop Extended”, with the extended edition offering slightly more capabilities.

The Photoshop Family

In addition Adobe also offers Photoshop Light Room and Photoshop Elements which are collectively called the “Adobe Photoshop Family”. Adobe also offers a free web based image editing tool called Photoshop express, which allows direct editing of photos held on social media platforms.

The latest version, Photoshop CS5 was launched in 2010, with new developments including warping tools, three dimensional brushes and real life painting effects.

While Photoshop was originally used by graphic designers to create photos and pictures for publishing on packages, websites and in the media, it is now also used as a tool to touch up and fine tune photographs and pictures.

Due to the huge library of options Photoshop has, it has become the principle tool used by Graphic designers in creating marketing images such as logos, banners and flyers.

Adobe also infamously offers a completely free trial of all of their software packages, including all versions of Photoshop, which often leads to many purchasing the tool following the expiration of the free trial.
