How To Design And Install Plumbing

The quality of workmanship is usually judged by the appearance of the plumbing fixtures and many installations have been criticized by the layman, even though the roughing in may be perfect, because the manner in which the plumbing fixtures were installed did not coincide with the workmanship of the other crafts.

The methods employed in setting plumbing fixtures are discussed in Chapter XXVII and may be satisfactorily used for installing the fixtures specified in the building of this example. The pages on which these appear are listed on the following page.

Before the fixtures are set into place each one must be carefully inspected for imperfections. This procedure saves expense because the building occupants are exceedingly anxious to acquire first class material and unless the fixture is perfect they usually insist on replacing it.

Should the fixtures become soiled during building construction it is up to the plumber to clean them thoroughly before turning the job over to the building owner. Care must be taken not to use cleaners which may be gritty and scratch the highly polished surface of the fixture.

After the complete job has been checked to see that the plumbing system is working satisfactorily, the plumber must remove the surplus working materials from the building.
