A 1/4" x 1/4" dado is cut across the inside face of each drawer side (DB) and (DG) and is located 3/4" from the back end (Fig. 6). A 1/8" x 1/8" dado is cut across the same face of each piece on a line 1/4" from the front end. A 1/4" x 1/4" tongue is cut on each end of the drawer backs (DC) and (DH) to fit the dado as shown in Fig. 6. A 3/4" x 3/4" dado is cut in the lower edge of each drawer back, as shown in Fig. 6, to fit over the drawer runner and act as a drawer guide.
The drawer fronts (DA) and (DF) have a 3/8" x 3/8" rabbet cut along the upper inside edge. The tongue on each end of the drawer fronts is produced by cutting a 1/4" groove 7/8" deep on a line 3/8" from the front face and then cutting off all but 1/8" of the projecting stock on the inside face. The outside edges and ends of the drawer fronts should be molded by use of a 3/8" quarter-round cutter or by chamfering these edges and ends. The drawers are assembled with glue and 11/4' brads.
The door (DK) is completed by cuttin a 3/8 x 3/8" rabbet on both ends and edges and then molding the edges and ends like the drawer fronts.
The shelf cleats (W) are fastened in place with 11/4" No. 10 flathead wood screws. Locations are shown in section (BB) of Fig. 3. The shelf is placed on these cleats. The top (U) is fastened to the cabinet by driving 11/4" No. 10 flathead screws through cleats (R) and (S) and the top back rail (L) and into the top member (U). When placing the top in position allow 3/4" between the back of the cabinet and the back edge of the top member. The back (V) is set in this space and fastened to the top member with 13/4" No. 10 flathead screws driven through the back and into the rear edge of the top.
Apply Metal or Wood Hardware The choice of hardware such as drawer pulls, hinges and latch for the door should be in keeping with the hardware used on the sink unit. The hardware should be put in place, then removed for finishing the cabinet.
The cabinet should be painted and enameled to match the sink unit. If this unit is to be joined to the sink cabinet, this work should be done before the linoleum top is added. The best method of fastening the unit together is with four stove bolts 2" long set in holes bored in the butting sides of these units. The linoleum is cemented in place and the molding applied to the upper edge of the back member (V) and the forward edge of the cabinet top (U).
