MACHINERY

MOWERS

A lawn mower is a piece of equipment used to cut the grass. There are manual models as well as electric models. There are hand pushed mowers and there are ride-on mowers. Whatever the type or model, they are essential to a well-groomed ground. Generally speaking, those with a smaller area of lawn to maintain will often opt for a manual, hand-powered mower. It comes in variable sizes, such as a 30cm blade width with variable cutting heights. Size of 12mm-40mm, both light and compact for easy storage. Complete with a rear-mounted grass box that will bring you right up to the edges. This type of mower is ideal for inaccessible areas just as well.

Other mower options include: An electric motor mower with a spindle cutting system. A cordless, quiet motor mower that offers adjustable cutting height. This makes the chore of mowing the lawn more acceptable for most. When the rechargeable battery runs flat the mower can still be used just as you would a conventional hand lawnmower. You can find a one-year parts guarantee for most mowers.

The Lightweight Cordless cylinder mower
One variation comes with a 32cm blade width “Quattro-cut” four-blade cutting cylinder for a perfect finish. Has a flexible cutting range of 12- 42 mm. It easily tackles long or short grass and is an efficient low-energy cutting cylinder. It combines with battery power to cut twice as fast. Comes with a front collecting grassbox.

The Riding Lawnmower
One variation is designed to cut grass day-in day-out with a minimum of downtime. The cylinders are 7″ in diameter with adjustable bearings against bed knives that have upturned tips giving extra wear and longer service. Being belt driven, the three floating units hug the ground contours, giving a close, even cut without scalping, even on slopes. This model of mower is used to cover expansive land types with an ideal capacity of cutting 2 acres each hour.

TRIMMERS

A trimmer is a powered hand tool perfect for light to medium duty users. Looks after such garden chores as hedges, beds, ornamental grasses, all lawns and more. They are durable and come in in a variety of styles with a useful debris shield and adjustable cut-off knife. Provides an all-position diaphragm carburetor for fast, easy starts. Edging style left handle.

Specifications vary according to model:

One example would be:
1.2cc Engine
14Oz. Fuel Tank
59″ Shaft Length
Semi Auto Cutting Head
.095 Cutting Line
11.4 Lbs.
2 Year Consumer Warranty
1 Year Commercial Warranty
90 Day Rental Warranty
Optional Weed & Brush Blade Kit

HEDGING TRIMMER

The very popular electric trimmer makes it easy to care for your hedges, shrubs and ornamental hedges. Trimmers make easy work of trimming back and shaping chores.

Traditional mechanical hedge trimmers can be found as two-arm hedge clippers. No matter whether you choose wooden or plastic handles, the patented gear transmission ensures clean and easy cutting, making it considerably easier to cut hedges with these hedge clippers compared to the conventional cutting technique. Blades have a non-stick coating and the blade tension is fully adjustable without requiring additional tools.

You can purchase an electric hedge trimmer as a very basic tool first and eventually upgrade to a deluxe model. The more advanced models feature a closely stepped adjustable handle and a special blade geometry that keeps the hedge near the blades when trimming. You can also maintain your blades expertly using a special maintenance spray for electric hedge trimmers and other tools to protect them between uses, especially during the long period of storage during the winter months.

CHAIN SAWS

Chain saws come in a variety of sizes, both gas and electric. Chain saws are used to remove large limbs or entire trees. Chain saws should be used only with appropriate safety gear by people who fully understand their operation and handling for pruning. Improper or careless handling can do significant damage to trees in a very short time.

Each model features different value. One variation would be the Husky 136 with a low noise level and low weight on all moving engine parts which provides the user with very fast acceleration.

Specifications are as follows:
Cylinder displacement 36.3 cm / 2.2 cu.inch
Power 1.6 kW / 2.2 hp
Noise pressure 98 dB(A)
Noise power 104 dB(A)
Vibrations front/rear handle 4.9 m/s? / 7.7 m/s
Weight without cutting equipment 4.6 kg / 10.1 lbs
Fuel tank volume 0.41 l / 0.85 US pint
Oil tank volume 0.20 l / 0.42 US pint
Chain pitch .325 inch
Recommended bar length 33-38 cm / 13-16 inch

BROOMS

A good garden broom will do expert work of keeping your surroundings and immediate garden area clean and debris free at all times. You will be able to round up unwanted particles, leaves, twigs, stems, smaller branches and the like for collecting to discard into your garbage, compost or chipper for example. Various models are available:

Exterior Bristles will catch all dust and debris, allowing those tough double-duty center bristles to handle the sticks and rocks. There are reversible heads available to add length of time for wear and tear up to two full years. Sweep to perfection, your entire garden and patio areas. Can be purchased with a 58″ long wood handle. Large variation of handle sizes are available from short to tall. You can also purchase an indoor/outdoor broom replacement head.

Alternatively you can take care of all of your corners and hidden places in your garden with a hand broom or brush. Small hemp hand brooms or brushes are very durable and they come in larger sizes too.

Here are some specifics when it comes to selecting the ideal size: Stainless steel handles are 10 3/8″ and 8″, with the stainless steel brush areas of 3/8″ and 1/2″.

SHOVELS AND PICKS

Shovels and Picks are a must have in your garden when you need to dig and get under something in particular. Breaking up the earth when harder is necessary at times at which time the pick is very necessary.

Made of exceptional quality for durability and ease of use with handles of all dimensions, 27” and upwards to 48”. Provides maximum strength while remaining light in weight. Formed from hot-rolled blanks of differing gauges. Made of quality Chrome nickel alloy steel and carbon steel. Many provide rolled or turned foot pedal on top of blade.

The square point shovel affords less cutting power and is used for scooping and removing of materials.

“D” handle round point is recommended for ordinary garden digging and not for heavy digging. Good for digging holes or moving soil or gravel. Available in both light and heavy weight.

“D” handle square point is recommended for the removal of loose soil and such other light materials such as asphalt and sand, but not for heavy digging. Good for flattening the sides and bottoms of ditches or for leveling gravel or dirt—they’re great for getting up the remnants of a pile. Available in both light and heavy weight.

The smaller shovel or transplanting spade is excellent for not disturbing your surrounding plants when removing or transplanting.

PICK AX

When you must have a good tool to break things, the pick ax is one of your garden tools choices. The T-shaped design features extremely sharp points on each end. It works great when the job calls for breaking apart cement, digging through extremely tough clay or soil, or chipping away unwanted rocks. Forged steel, chisel and point. Excellent for use such as defining edges, dislodging pebbles, stones and soil.

Durable fiberglass handle construction makes the pick ax a welcomed gardening tool as it is virtually unbreakable. Variety of sizes are available, the most common being the 36in in length.

FILTERS

Pond and fountain water is cleaned and maintained using a filter. Filters mechanically remove particles from the water by trapping them in filter pads or using other media. This is done biologically by converting ammonia to nitrites and then to nitrates. Aquatic plants will then consume the nitrates. A meditation pond needs to have a pleasing odor. It is much easier to enter a meditative state in comfort than to have some foul, non-filtered water stagnating. With the increased attention paid to meditation, yoga, and relxation, it pays to take this into consideration.

An external pond or fountain filter will work best when compared to a submersed filter. They receive needed oxygen for nitrifying the bacteria. Without bio-filtration, the ammonia level will often become too concentrated and unhealthy to support your fish.

Bio Filters provide all three types of filtration in ponds up to 2,400 gallons. Bio Filters, give the best bio-activity compared to submersed filters.

External filters allow oxygen to feed the beneficial bacteria that adhere to other choices of bio-media such as the popular Bio Balls.

TREATMENTS FOR FOUNTAINS AND PONDS

Treatments purify ponds and remove harmful agents of different kinds.
A tap water treatment, also known as a conditioner removes the chlorine from your water so that this does not become harmful to your fish.

Algae Pads – Four way action pond pad used to clear pond Algae. Algae Pads works four times better than Barley Straw and clears most ponds in four days. Algae Pads offer environmental, biological, chemical and mechanical control on over 80% of all known Algae species. This treatment can be used directly in your pond or preferably in external biological box filters.

Among other good treatments:

Pond & Fountains Start – this stimulates the natural protective slime coat on your pond fish and neutralizes chlorine, copper and other heavy metals present in tap water. Stops chloride shock and reduces stress in ornamental fish.

Pond & Fountains Water Clear – clears suspended clays and silts in new ponds within a few hours. Also removes discoloration and wastes in ornamental fish ponds.

Clear Zyme Block – this treatment has billions of beneficial bacteria and enzymes that quickly break down waste which are caused by uneaten food, fish waste, decaying plants and dead algae. Ideal for setup of a new pond, and spring start up or fall shutdown of established ponds. Helps to maintain a natural biological balance.

PONDS AND FOUNTAINS: PUMPS

Pond and fountain pumps are re-circulating, and most often submersible pumps that power your Pond Filters. Pond pumps should be chosen with care. Pond pumps run continuously and so must be energy efficient and durable. A magnetic drive pond pump is considered a good investment as they are energy efficient, compact and durable. Pond pumps are rated by the gallons per hour (gph) or per minute (gpm) produced at various heights. Your pond pump should be able to circulate at least half of the volume of pond water every hour. When your fountain filter will be powered with the pump, then the height and width of the flow rate of the pond filter must be taken into consideration. When a very high or powerful waterfall is desired, it is best to power the pond filter and the waterfall with separate pumps. A pond pump powerful enough for a large waterfall may be too much for the pond filter.

OXYGENATING DEVICES

Providing sufficient oxygen for your pond fish to breath should be a critical concern to successful pond enjoyment. Your primary concern will be transferring pure oxygen gas into fountain water and this is called the process of oxygenation. The respiration of fish and bacteria in the biofilter will deplete oxygen supply very quickly and that is why you need to replace it very quickly using an oxygenation device for your pond.

A system that is designed to transfer pure oxygen into water is made up of the following: a source of oxygen enriched gas, a control unit able to regulate gas flow and equipment to transfer the oxygen into the water.

Fountain Oxygenation Devices are designed to maximize both absorption efficiency and transfer energy costs. Some examples of Oxygenation Devices are: u-tubes, pressurized spray towers, down flow bubble contractors, side-stream oxygen injectors, pressurized packed columns, and multi-stage, low-head oxygenators.
