Physical and Mental Fitness Requirements
| By Kate | Category: Fitness
General fitness is a state in which a person’s body is free of disease, and is capable of undertaking any task without suffering undue fatigue or distress. To achieve and maintain physical and mental fitness requires effort and understanding of what the body needs to cope with everyday stress.
True Fitness Means:
The food we eat determines our level of fitness, and in this respect it’s essential we understand the importance of the right food that will nourish not only our body but also our mind. Today, many people go for the easy option of buying readymade meals in the belief that it saves them time. This is a fallacy, and eventually the consumption of such foods will have an adverse effect upon their general health.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat, fish and wholegrain foods, all contain the natural vitamins and minerals our body needs to sustain good health, and to keep our immune system in good working order. Such foods can be easily prepared and will cost us less than precooked items. Home prepared food contains less sugar and salt, both of which can be detrimental to our health and fitness.
Another factor which helps our body’s to remain fit is exercise. Busy people often think they don’t have time for a workout in their busy schedules. Exercise need not mean hours spent at the gym or running a marathon. A twenty minute walk every day will help to stimulate the blood flow, and often help the mind to sort our problems that may have seemed insurmountable.
Swimming, yoga and even deep breathing exercises will help to keep the body fit and will have a surprising effect on how you feel about yourself and your well being in general. Exercise can boost your self esteem and make you walk taller. It’s not just for athletes; it’s important for everyone to strive for a certain level of fitness so that they can enjoy their lives so much more.
