What do I need to start yoga exercises?
| By admin | Category: Yoga ExercisesI’m going to start doing yoga exercises today but I would like to know what requirements do I need for it?And it’s okay to follow the videos from youtube for yoga beginners?
For first time yoga you ll need a yoga mat, yoga block, water, and a towel. The yoga block might not be necessary, it depends on the moves you re asked to do, but I recommend it. It will make the positions you can quite reach obtainable and the for the ones that are way to easy you can use the to add a little more distance(like if your sitting down reaching for your toes, you can put it on the bottom of your feet and grab the block). Youtube videos are fine but they are restrained by 10 min time limits so you ll have to stop and change videos which kinda sucks. I recommend going out and grabbing a dvd for beginners, there pretty cheap because there are a lot of them and when your ready maybe sign up for a class to get a little more instruction. In yoga you ll find your working muscles that you dont normally work so some of these positions are gonna be tough at first. Fight for height and remember to breathe throughout, form is everything.
Good luck!

Hey there,
I personally always recommend when you first start practicing yoga to take some classes. Having a yoga teacher there will help you a lot, guiding your through the moves, making adjustments and they are also a great resource if you have any questions or concerns.
Not doing certain positions correctly can lead to injury and yoga dvds can’t provide you that hands on experience and the subtleties of the positions.
After taking some classes you will know the general positions and flow and will be ready to take on trying the dvds as well.
Hope this helps,
Jenna
