A Wiring Layout For The Laundry-Utility Room

In the combination laundry, sewing, and utility room, illustrated on the next page, location of the outlets for convenient use of the washer, iron, or ironer is very important. Place them on the wall about 40 inches above the floor to enable you to plug in the equipment easily.

A Kitchen Ventilating Fan

Kitchen ventilators are one of the greatest conveniences and comforts to the homemaker. Not only do they exhaust odors and smoke, but by drawing out the warm air from the kitchen, keep it a more comfortable place to work. There are two basic types of ventilating fans.

The Wall Cabinet Fan

These fans are mounted in the wall and discharge the air toward the outside. They may be constructed with either a plastic or a chrome grille plate which fits flush with the inside wall. This grille is equipped with a set of louvers on the rear side. The outer plate which fits into the outside wall is fitted with a door. This door is controlled by a bead chain which runs through the adjustable box that connects the outer and inner wall plates together. The chain is also connected to a switch, located inside the box assembly. When the chain is pulled from the inside, it not only opens the outer door but starts the fan motor in operation.
