List Of Tools And Suppllies

The tools listed below are those recommended for the jobs described in this handbook.

The first list includes those most frequently needed. Such a set of tools will enable the householder to perform the ordinary tasks in the upkeep of a house.
Claw hammer. Steel square.
Two screw drivers (one large, one Nail set (1/16-inch).
small). Mason's trowel.
Wire-cutting pliers. " Plumber's friend."
Monkey wrench. Three-cornered file.
Hand saw (crosscut). Stilson wrench.
Two wood chisels (1/4-Inch and Carpenter's pencil.
7/8-inch). Metal shears.
Small flat paintbrush. Brace and bits.
Jackknife. Soldering iron.
Putty knife Glass cutter.
Hack saw. Drawknife.
Cold chisel. Galvanized water bucket.
Folding rule. Small washtub.
Hatchet. Funnel.
Gimlet. Flash light.
Smoothing plane.

The second list includes special tools which are very useful, but are not required so often as those in the above list. The advisability of their purchase rests with the individual householder.

Rip saw. Gasoline blow torch.

Miter box. Seat-dressing tool for valve seats.

The following supplies will be found useful in many cases and should be kept on hand to meet emergencies:

Sponge. Electric fuses.
Seat washers. Nuts and bolts.
Candles. Wire (copper and iron).
Assorted nails. Soft solder.
Assorted screws. Rubber tubing (small).
Friction tape.
