Next to the speaker is space for a table model TV set. Adequate ventilation, a feature which is frequently overlooked in built-in TV sets, has been provided. Behind the sliding panels is a record changer at the extreme left under the record rack. The record changer is mounted on a sliding shelf. The rest of the space behind the sliding panels is devoted to other storage.

Each section is equipped with adjustable shelf standards and the shelves themselves should be of such a number and arranged so that they answer your individual problem. Movie projector, games, magazines, oversize books, spare ash trays, bowls and vases for flower arrangements are a few of the many things that will find a place here. On the end at the back is a narrow door that opens into a space where two card tables can be stored. Of course, the entire design can be reversed, shortened, extended, or altered in any way to suit conditions.

These are the back nailing strip, the front, top and back of the valance, the counter, the base, and the strip on which the perforated panels slide. Other parts such as the desk front, the back and front of the loud-speaker, the sliding shelf for the record changer should be of plywood. Most of the other parts can be made of either plywood or solid. Plywood avoids the necessity of gluing up two or more pieces to make wide members. Solid provides edges that are more easily finished and less apt to chip.

Before starting the construction, it is best to check the sizes of any existing equipment that you might intend storing in the built-in. The space for the card tables, for instance, is intended for tables 28" square. If yours are larger, it might be necessary to cut through into the next upright, or increase the width of the entire end section.

As the built-in will be constructed in position, the best way to proceed is to cut the parts and install them as you go along.

While the sliding panels are shown in the drawings made of perforated Vs " hardboard, they can be made of plywood or solid hardboard. The two center panels slide in the back channel, the two end panels in the front. The channels themselves can be of metal or of plastic.

The adjustable shelves for both the upper and lower parts of the built-in are made in numbers to suit your own individual requirements.
