TYPES. Prefinished in scored tile designs and embossed leather patterns. Also available with perforations. Panels of 1/8 " and 3/16" thicknesses have 3/16" diameter holes on1/2" or 1" centers; 1/4" thick panels have 9/32" diameter holes on 1" centers.

SIZES. Thicknesses—1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16" are most usual. Patterned and scored types are generally 1/8" thick.

Widths and lengths—4-ft. width is most common. Lengths of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 ft. are generally available. Other sizes can be had from large suppliers.

AS 93% OF ALL HOME INSTALLATIONS INVOLVES PANEL THICKNESSES OF3/4" or 13/8", most of the hardware is designed for these sizes. In selecting hardware, the first distinction is between "top-mounting" (those with narrow plates which attach to the top edge of the door) and "side-mounting" (those with plates that attach to the rear face of the door). Plywood, hardboard and Novoply, unless they have a top rail, require side-mounting hangers. Sliding panels can be installed singly or in various combinations as diagramed above.
