Built In Cabinets And Storage Walls

Having racks on the doors permits the more efficient use of a deep cabinet. As many garages do not have much excess space available for cabinets, it is always possible to make a cabinet of half the height that hangs from the ceiling and is fastened to the wall over the car hood.

A worktable for potting, flower preparation and other gardening activities is a valuable addition to any house. This one was built out of doors under the kitchen windows where the housewife can keep an eye on activities inside while she is working at the bench. This location also makes it easy to bring a water outlet through the wall.

The bench is 24" wide and 36" high with hinged doors enclosing plenty of space for pots, fertilizer, tools and other garden necessities. At one or both ends, a storage unit can be added to hold tall tools and other implements. These units should be made of the same siding material as that on the house—in this case, of western red cedar boards and battens.

Installation requires only cutting through plaster and laths flush to the studs and making a rough-in height of 15%". No patching is necessary for the safe frame will cover the imperfections. Four mounting screws and hinge are concealed and covered when the door is locked.
