Built In Cabinets And Storage Walls

As the uprights are fastened only at the back edge, the required stiffness is obtained from the inserted units which fit snugly between the uprights and are screwed to them. At least three of the spaces between uprights should have one or more units fastened in them. The shelves, which are not shown in the drawings, are rectangles of plywood, 3/4" x 153/4" x 33 7/8".

MODERN DESIGN REQUIRES THAT TELEPHONE WIRING, LIKE ALL ELECTRIC WIRING, BE CONCEALEDbehind walls and that neat outlets be provided. Where wires must run in places inaccessible for installation and repair, it is essential that raceways be provided. Your local telephone company will be glad to give expert advice on any specific problems you may have. The home owner can install the raceways or have an electrician do it. The telephone company will do the wiring required for the actual installation. The outlet is a standard steel box as is used for switches and receptacles. The raceway should be of Vt" conduit, either rigid or thin wall. The ends of the conduit, both the free end and the end at the box, should be reamed to remove any burrs, and a flanged bushing installed to prevent abrasion of the wire. One 90° turn of not less than 12" radius is permitted.
