Dinnerware Storage Cabinet

THE DINING AREA WHERE THIS CABINET IS LOCATED IS PANELED IN WEST COAST HEMLOCK AND THE BATTEN DOORS WERE MADE OF THE SAME paneling so that when they are closed the cabinet is concealed. The shelves are fixed but the spaces between them have been cleverly arranged to hold all the different types of dinnerware. The storage of cups with their saucers is most convenient and is a scheme that reduces breakage.

This cabinet was built in a corner to square off an alcove. Your available space may vary, but the cabinet should be in the neighborhood of 30" wide. The shelves are supported in dadoes at the sides. Notice that the drawers are narrower than the shelves. There is a 3/4" x 2" facing at the sides to allow room for the drawers to clear the doors. The drawers are carried on side runners 3/4" x 2 3/4" and the. fronts of the drawers extend down 3/4" in order to cover the resulting space. The top drawer can be separated into compartments and lined to store silver flatware.
