SPRAYING EDGES AND OUTSIDE CORNERS
To begin the paint job, shake the can vigorously to mix pigment and vehicle. Shake the can often during the painting operation. You will hear a clicking sound every time you agitate the can. This is a marble which is placed inside the can as an agitator to assure full stirring of the paint.
As with professional painting equipment, it would be wise to try your hand at using the aerosol can before doing finish work. Paint a scrap surface to determine the best spray pattern. Use a back and forth stroke.
After painting, turn the can upside down and press the button until only pressure escapes. This clears the valve stem and spray head, and leaves the spray can ready for use next time you need it. Otherwise, the paint remaining in the nozzle will dry and clog the valve, which will render the aerosol can use.
House Paints
Those basic paints for exterior and interior main body areas
A s used in this chapter, the term house paint refers to paint which is employed to protect and decorate the main body of a house, both inside and outside the structure. This definition is offered to distinguish house paint from special paints which are used for special jobs, such as painting of masonry and floors. Special paints are the subject of the next chapter.
When you consider the many different types of paint on the market today, you can appreciate why some sort of subdivision is necessary. There is a paint or coating for practically every type of surface and for solving practically every type of surface problem. Trying to tackle the subject of paint without some form of organization would be confusing.
